The building, originally constructed in the 1970s on Numancia Street in Barcelona, featured an outdated lobby dominated by dark materials. The renovation carried out by 4ARK completely transforms the space into a contemporary, bright, and welcoming entrance, while preserving the elements that remain part of the building’s identity and memory.
What Changes Were Made?
- The outdated wall coverings, flooring, and obsolete elements were removed to prepare the space for its new layout.
- Walls and flooring were levelled and refinished, and a new suspended ceiling with indirect LED lighting was introduced.
- Large-format porcelain stoneware flooring and ceramic wall claddings were installed, bringing continuity and elegance to the space.
- All electrical installations were upgraded, and both decorative lighting fixtures and technical lighting points were integrated into the design.
- Wood slats were installed on ceilings and walls to add warmth and texture to the space.
- Mailboxes, mirrors, and furniture were updated, and a new planter with artificial plants was added to enhance the sense of welcome.
- Exterior improvements: a new metal entrance door, safer and more contemporary in design.
A modern and elegant final aesthetic
The author of the architectural project is Núria Selva. The new lobby of this residential building located in Les Corts combines sober materials, clean lines, and carefully designed lighting. Despite the comprehensive renovation, emblematic elements such as the benches and the small “interior garden,” which previously housed art pieces, have been preserved.
The result is a contemporary, warm, and elegant entrance that enhances the building’s character and provides a much more pleasant arrival experience for both residents and visitors.
